“Make music with friends, and friends with music!”
On hilissuvi – Veljo Tormis
From Sügismaastikud (Autumn Landscapes), Part I
Performed by the choir of WSKOV (Wageningen Student Choir and Orchestra Association)
Conducted by: Dennis Broeders
Tormis’s music draws from ancient song traditions and the cycles of nature, capturing moments of stillness, change, and deep cultural roots. Though written as part of an autumnal suite, On hilissuvi resonates now — in spring — as a quiet reflection on freedom, time, and the voice of the land. This recording is our contribution to the international #Tormis95 celebration, honoring the 95th anniversary of a composer who believed that song carries the soul of a people.
